Ditch the Drive - Schedule a Video Visit

Tips for During your Video Visit

Video visits do not replace face-to-face doctor-patient interactions, they make them easier! Even though video visits are convenient and easy, you'll need to use these tips to ensure the best video visit experience.

Make Eye Contact

Look directly into the camera occasionally so the doctor feels you are looking at them.

Discourage Interruptions

Remove children, pets, televisions or other distractions during the call.

Control your Background

Be sure to check what will be displayed in the background during you call. Most patients prefer to use a blank wall or clutter-free environment.

Keep Hand Motions to a Minimum

Lots of hand motions during the call adds distraction. Unless you need to act out a motion or symptom, try to keep hand motions to a minimum.

Dress Appropriately

Even though you may be  at home, on vacation, or at the office, be sure to wear clothing you would normally wear to go see your doctor! Swimsuits and beachwear are probably not appropriate!

Minimize Natural Light

Light from windows provides a variable light source that can conflict with interior lighting. It is better to close the windows and avoid any glare.

Speak in a Normal Voice

There's no need to shout! Check with the doctor at the beginning of the call if they can hear you well without shouting or talking too quietly.
